This profile is being brought
out to impart useful information about the University.
Religious sentiments did play their role in establishing
the University as the name signifies but the real
purpose was to disseminate knowledge, which was hailed
by the Great Guru as illuminating lamp. Hence, greater
emphasis has been laid upon science and technology so as
to brace the society up to face the challenges of the
modern world. Humanities and social sciences have also
been accorded a place of pride considering their worth
in humanising and harmonising the personality of the
individual.
Perennial reservoir of
knowledge, the Library, has been located in the centre
of the academic complex symbolising the centrality of
learning. Beautifully landscaped campus provides
pleasant ambience for academic pursuits.
A number of job oriented
and vocational courses have been started to equip the
students for future life. Unique support services are
being provided for teaching, research, sports and
cultural activities.
It gives
me immense pleasure to inform that Guru Nanak Dev
University is perhaps the first University in the region
which has introduced tools of new Information Technology
to its various functions. The University have totally
computerized their examination wing. This has helped in an early and with more
accuracy, declaration of results and also enabled the
candidates to take various competitive examinations.
The University has also
developed its own separate website for Administration.
This site is providing all types of information to its
prospective candidates on a global scale. All important
information has been made available on the site
including the examinations results. This effort will
definately ensure the students and public at large an
easy and instantaneous access to
information.
I
am pleased to write that this University has a glorious
history of thirty seven years. In this short spam of
time, the University has scaled new heights in
academics, sports and cultural activities. Carefully
nurtured by illustrious administrators, the University
has carved a perfect niche for itself on the academic
map of India and is a true Mecca for students from
rural, urban and border areas. This Universty is known
for excellent infrastructure in terms of buildings,
state of art labs for research and teaching. A crsytal
clear and transparent admission process attracts
mertiorious students to this University. A regular
upgradation of the syllabi is the hallmark giving a
sense of pride and sastisfaction.
The University is
fourtunate to have an eminent genticist Dr. jai Rup
Singh as its Vice-Chancellor who is introducting
innovations to elevate the academic standards to highest
peaks in the educational scenario.
